This is a 65-minute long piece, which was written for actor/director Itay Tiran and the Gropius Ensemble.
The text is my own theatrical adaptation of Nikolay Gogol's "Diary of a Madman".
Gropius Ensemble, directed my conductor Daniel Cohen, combines music and theater and creates a bridge between the two disciplines. Diary of a Madman is not a theater piece with incidental music, nor is it a musical work featuring a narrator; it is rather an entity in itself, where the boundaries of the genre are obscured: the performers on stage also act, and the actor is one of the musicians; and the music and text are written is such way that they serve one another equally. Diary of a Madman was commissioned by the Adele and John Gray Endowment Fund.
